Comfortable

It seems like all my art becomes somewhat autobiographic at some point. Every sheep, lizard or even a little bug or flower seems to develop a story when I spend as much time on a piece as I do. 

 

But this mosaic actually WAS a self-portrait.  Although I have never experienced real financial hardship, my art business did have numerous rough periods. 

 

At one point I even had to get a part time job while still running my business. This portrait is me under water.  Note that I am still smiling.

 

At the time, I remember often thinking about Jillian Michael's saying, “Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.”   It helped a lot.
