Limespring Oncology

When Limespring Oncology commissioned me to do these two mosaics, I was given a TON of freedom.  I knew that patients would be sitting for long periods of time facing these two mosaics while they are dealing with things I cannot even comprehend.

I wanted to have tiny details that people could possibly focus on for a bit. I strive to make uplifting art but especially when it is in a hospital setting. The tree stump in the Nurselog mosaic was the start of ideas for both pieces.

I came across the term when looking for inspiration photos. The fallen log lives on nurturing the new acorns. At the time, I had four grands so I made four acorns including the one sprouting on the log.

The Meadow mosaic has features that I consider pastoral, and the monarch and caterpillar symbolize renewal.

I was blessed by a letter I got a few years after these were hung. A patient there enjoyed the mosaics so much that her daughter-in-law contacted me to tell me so.

I understand that art cannot heal cancer but I know it can sometimes make a person feel a smidge better even when under extreme stress.
