Harrisburg Artsfest/CAIU Summer Camp

Two different projects started a dialogue with me at the same time.  Harrisburg Artsfest wanted me to do something with festival attendees during their 2022 show.  Capital Area Intermediate Unit wanted me to do another summer camp project.  Each of these would have been successful on their own. I asked both parties if they would want to collaborate and make a larger project than either was previously considering. Then it was decided that the completed mosaic would be installed in the John Harris High School in Harrisburg, PA.

One of the best things about the summer camp is that I was able to bring my oldest granddaughter to the workshop. One of the best things about the festival was that my family stepped up to help me out with this giant undertaking.  We had NO WAY of knowing the amount of participation.  Tile makers' ages ranged from preschool to older than me. Some tile makers sat working on a tile for hours.  Some took 5 minutes, and most were somewhere in between. Obviously, there was a great deal of diversity in the 1,000 plus tiles we got. I have a two-minute video of this project on YouTube, linked HERE.  John Harrisburg Community 2022
